Promoting sustainable development for prosperity and peace is a complex task that requires the joint efforts of governments, businesses, civil society, and other stakeholders. The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, affirmed by all United Nations Member States in 2015, presents a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) consist of 17 goals and 169 targets that cover a range of areas, including poverty, hunger, health, education, gender equality, clean water and sanitation, sustainable energy, economic growth, industrial innovation, inequality, climate action, ocean conservation, biodiversity, peace, and justice. The UN SDGs provide a critical framework for global sustainable development, and achieving these goals requires the collective efforts of all sectors of society. It is important to make sustainable development principles and practices a global consensus and practice.
